I changed the interior light bulb today in my 1996 El Fairmont Ghia, the one with the Tickford motor.
Immediately all interior lights went off, Smartlock ceased to work, power windows refuse to work, Engine turns over fine no power to coil/distributor, radio/Cd Player.
RAC Technitian has suggested the ECU may have failed or need to be reset but was unable to advise how.

    HELP!!

Have you checked the crt lmp 10 amp fuse?, theirs a good chance thats blown, and if that's blown try change it if you just blows again you most likely have a short to your interior light somewhere.

Some times the odvious is so easy! The RAC Serviceman and a Auto-Electrician were totally baffled.

In desparation  I changed the 10amp fuse for the interior lights despite it appearing good and having been checked by the 2 aforementioned "experts".
Hey Presto!!! Everything working as per normal!! :D :D :D

The truely amazing thing is that the 10amp fuse for the interior lights stops the engine running and kills the SmartLock as well :?: :?: :?: Something not mentioned in the owners manual or the Workshop Manual.

My Tool box has been checked to ensure extra 10amp fuses are now carried!
