Gem often put a little badge on the back of the head (they use a glue that melts if you cook the engine so they know not to replace it under warranty.

Also if it blows up within 100,000k's it was probably one of theirs as well.

Yeah i know. When I got my car it had a gem engine with about 50,000 k's on it. The head gasket went at 60,000k's and when I stripped it down found plenty of dodgy stuff inside.

I kept the crank, block and head castings and replaced EVERYTHING else.

so if i purchased a BA 4l dohc long motor bare.
i could purchase a megasquirt 2 ecu to run the engine, and use the current ecu to run the transmission.

then i would have to get an exhaust manifold, come up with an intake manifold, injectors, distro, water pump.

what stuff could i use from my ef motor???

you can mod the bay to fit it, and get a ba boss bulge grafted into the bonnet, and the underside cut out to make it all fit, its been done before **without the ba bulge bit done, but a cut in the bonnet**

but doesnt matter, been speaking to various people and no longer going down this track. the SOHC engine can produce enough power for a track car with the correct setup
