so as the title says.. im looking to buy a new induction kit or setup for my ba xt. ive looked into SS inductions but they're a bit pricey and ive searched the forums and apparently the F6 typhoon intake is the way to go? any suggestions?

and when people say the f6 lower intake what does that mean...as in there are two "snorkles"? or..

heh thanks

Yep thats exactly what it means. one upper (over the radiator) one lower (behind the head light.)
A cheap proven intake that still remains stock looking is this
1. Replace top intake with XR6T or XR8 snorkel (same).
2. make own or modify airbox to allow for lower F6 style snorkel.
3. replace airfilter with k'n'n panel filter.
4. replace intake tube with teritory intake tube.

All these parts can be sourced through the for sale sections of forums or from a good wrecker. Alternatively you pay through the nose and buy them all genuine from ford.

That sounds exactly like what I'm looking for for me AU2 XR6 VCT. Will this setup fit under the bonnet of my AU (with the lower snorkel shortened to fit)?

I haven't done it myself, this is what I was told to do when I asked. Instead of doing this I"m am making my own cold air intake. Ever option I looked at was expensive, i.e ss induction $500, blue power $750, and these only replace the air box so I decided I'd replace the lot (everything up to the throttle body) by making my own. Will post results when I get round to it.

I bought this one
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/COLD-AIR-INTAKE-FULL-KIT-BA-BF-XR6-XR6T-TURBO-FREE-GIFT-/170560850706?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27b6380b12#ht_1491wt_905

But I only paid $50 for it, so it pays to wait and see if they run an auction for it. $250 is way too much.

Did you notice an increase in power or throttle response?

Yeah I lost a dead spot at around 2000rpm and overall power was better + throttle response was a nice improvement over the stock box.
