yesterday the while driving normaly dropping my little bro to work my engine started to make a ticking noise, so i pulled over to check, checked oil pressure everything ok there! went back home and ripped the rockercover off everything seems to be ok. ran it again and it seemed to stop. so this morning i drove to work testing the engine changing from 1st to 2nd and 3rd at 50km/h seemed ok. then suddenly it started again! i have the day off 2morrow to look closer. does anyone know what may be wrong????

How long since last oil and filter change? Did you use guage on dash to check oil pressure? Problem sounds like it only happens when engine is hot.

na it happens when the engine is cold too.... i changed the oil about 200km ago so its pretty new. yeah i just used the dash to see if oil pressure was there, when i took the rockercover off there eas heaps of oil there still. so dont know.... at first i thought oil pressure was gone, but i dont think that is it. i may be wrong ill have to open her up again 2morrow.

I've got a EB spack 5 speed that has done nearly 340k on original motor with only the head done bout 180k ago. Runs happily on lpg over the 4 grand mark quite regularly and without any lifter noise. Only lifter noise I get is on first startup in the mornings and that is minor. The motor in the falcons are pretty solid and at only 200k and if other wise running well, might be worth fixing what you got. Unless of course during the course of the rebuild you want to put some go faster bits in! In that case go for the build and have some fun with it.
