Hey guys,
Im going to put Gas into my Fairlane...

I wanted to know what a good conversion costs and were you would recomend getting it done (in melb).

ive been quoted $1750 by two places

and then another was $1350 he said its a good system and he's been installing them for 15 yrs

But ive been told for a good quality LPG conversion its about $2000
what do you guys think?

Thanks,

Waz.

My conversion was $1400 but I think it was an el cheapo job.

Just make sure they also change the spark plugs and leads because gas needs an almost perfect ignition system to work best.

I would recommend that you get a system that adjusts the LPG mixture by hooking into the O2 sensor in your exhaust.

Cheers

itchiOne, any system fitted to a car that has an O2 sensor must have the stepper motor adjusted power valve that is controlled by the O2 and tps. Its the law. Its always best to pay a bit more for a good quality LPG system and install, crap systems will give you no end of trouble and drive you crazy. I beleive that some of LPGs bad rep is because of this.

do you mean by that little computer with 6-9 wires hanging out of it that apparently does that? lol

or do you actually have visible vacuum lines/solenoids (extras even) on your mixer/converter somewhere:?

If it's tha law, all the better, then all LPG reps would quote for such a system wouldn't they :)

All i was suggesting was that Waza get a lpg system that has better control of mixtures than those old mechanical systems. The implication being if someone asks $1350 for a system where as others ask $1750, they may not be quoting on the same system. So where am i leading Waza astray :?

Cheers
