thinking about puttin the beast on gas

can pickup a cheap system but tank is out of date - whats the price of retest and where/who in SA will do

do they still charge if it fails??

whats a new tank (70l) worth??

tank test allow about $250. most gas places should be able to do it.

I know in Victoria it costs between $80 to $100 for a re-test

and I just sold a gas tank on ebay with 2 years left of life for $110, but have seen some out of date ones go for about the $60 mark

yeah thats kewl - got the whole system from a EA for $20

i'll be in melbourne(east) in new year - can u recommend a place

the tank i got is full of gas can it be transfered as i dont want to vent it

Be wise to strip down the converter and check it out - replacing the diaphragm might be warranted. If the coolant hasn't been changed regularly and inhibitor not added the casing could be corroded.

You'd be surprised that there are people out there who just run straight water as coolant.

There's a place on Heatherdale Rd called Ringwood Dynomatic. They upgraded my under-bonnet components and did a really good job.

Can anyone tell me how much a new converter costs? mine looks like s**t. Is there much involved with stripping it down and cleaning it? thanx
