It wasn’t just a tip it was a full system from the cat back, I knew what a resonator was I was just chasing clarification as I have read 7everal different descriptions. I was also chasing whether I should add a resonator to my design i.e. looking for suggestions on how to make the whole system and what to put in the system

Must not have included the muffler then cause $120 is bloody cheap...

Hmm fines... how large? there’s another topic I started around here about having a opening/closing restrictor before/after the cat that can be shut to reduce noise around town and opened for strip days ect

If im gonna have to include a muffler I may as well buy it straight out
Rough sounding isn’t really an issue for me just after torque.

belive me you will want a muffler. i only have a single muffler and its around 97db , which is over the limit. and even at crusing speed it drones like a f**k. not to mention when you sink the boot in, parts of my interior vibrate.

id hate to hear just a single hotdog......

so the general idea is to avoid a straight through dump ? just as an indicator how loud is 90 db?

putting the boot in, but when cops test they test it at the rpm where 75% of your power is made. (i think) which is about 3500rpm, and that is where it is the loudest

ok cheers for that mate ...I think im just gonna start pricing pre-made systems up sounds like to much hassle , next recommendations for the most lower end torque with a decent cackle when you put the boot in?
ie manufacturer and size?

I'd also be interested in hearing about the relation between exhaust diameter / length and any effect on torque.

Planning to have a custom twin exhaust system on a very torque-y car, but i want to increase the torque every way i can.

Also to koperety, I suggest getting that teacher to show you their method. Odds are they have materials to use, or maybe could even get a scrap offcut from a local exhaust place if asking nicely. It'd be good to see this 'perfect' method and understand it.

p.s. my first post but i've already spent hours reading here and on sites i've found through here :-D What an excellent place!

I made mine for the XG, striaght off the cat with no muffler with a bend over the diff to a cannon mounted out of sight then out a 3" dump pipe.
It has the best note and not even close to loud.
