Im in the middle of building a quick motor for my EA fo half track work and weekend driving and would like it be able to get more rpm from the motor what do you need to do the these motors to make them rev safely to 7k or more

I will be using a EA block with ether new el pistons, rods and crank or 5k old Au pistons, rods and crank no matter what bottom end im going to end up using it will be getting a full balance sure

just not sure what rpm i will be able to get to safely and what else hold back these motors from pulling higher rpms

6000rpm MAX. you will stretch the rods if you pull more than that!

Rev any higher than 6200RPM and your pistons will fly though the bonnet!!! If you want a car that revs out, get a Honda LOL :)

Laticia.

bore x stroke ratio.
falcons are undersquare.

if you want high revving, you want oversquare.

Pistons don't fly through the bonnet, just stretch rods and hit the head.

i have reved my au engine to 6500rpm a couple of times and had seen 6800 on one occassion..
but generally my rev limit is set to 6000rpm. as it stops making power here..

maybe i should check if the pistons are still there???

I know a dude with a speedway car, ( looks like an EL ), it revs to 7500rpm....Microtech ECU, std crank, std rods, std pistons....but modified rockers.....solids, no HLA's.....and a monster camshaft that is a " Misgrind ".
He is currently working on another donk now, std bottom end ( EL Hybrid ), modified pistons, highly modified head, still using injection.
It may be ready in about 2 months or so, for next season.
Will be interesting to see how it goes.

oversquare motors can rev, its just the physics make it harder, but not impossible.

The 6.5 liter murcielago engine is oversquare, and makes its 631 hp at 8,000 rpm. Not sure what the redline is but with peak power at 8000, it could be anywhere 8,500 to 9000.

rod to stroke ratio's make a difference so Im told.

When they test these i6 motors they test them beyond what they are set at out of the factory as a margin of safety. I think the valve train would go before the bottom end when revving over 6k.

This isnt verifyed, only heresay, but in discusions Ive been told the ford aus tested the au six to 7000 rpm safely, but set the rev limit much lower for reliability.

You're not from the housing commissions of Dapto by any chance? They all seem to think that pistons put holes in bonnets and go into orbit when you rip a mean skid.

I have a AU motor in my wagon that gets reved regularly to 6500 - 7000 rpm

My AU motor sings when i rev it out, I'm running a wade 1645 grind which makes power from 3500 - 7000 that probably helps the engine rev. otherwise standard motor.

Now im really confused

So it seems they can rev to 6500 to 7000 with no mods just now need to make up my mind on what crank and what rods and pistons.

and obviously you also need an aftermarket ecu or a j3 chip modification to dissable the factory rev limit..
