Now I know that the manifolds on a EF-EL are BBM (Broadband Manifolds), but what are the ones on an EFI EA-ED called? Also to convert from that one to a BBM, do you only need the BBM, intake piping and box or would you have to change the ECU and other items?

EA-ED is a log manifold

To convert you should use the ECU as well, but you can make it work without it (although the tune wont be as good).

Yeah that would make sense considering it's shape. Would be good if there was a step-by-step manual on how to do the conversion.

ive been told if you use the vaccum solenoid from behind the washer bottle on the el, i think, connect it to be operated off a rpm switch, like a shift light switch and set it round the 3000rpm mark to switch. if you find anymore out let me know cause im tryin to do the same conversion.

stock is 3800.. however interesting results can be obtained by moving the switching point to suit a new cam profile,

we dropped the switch point down to about 3100 with a custom ecu in an EL running a Rspec4 cam, and it suits it to a tee..
