i am having trouble trying to find a fault in the wiring for my tail lights. in the max ellery's repair manual its got the wiring diagram for what i need but it just says that the wires go to 5,11,12,13,17,19 and 22...what the hell are these numbers and where do they go to?????

my wiring problem seems to point to number 5 but the repair manual says absolutely nothing about what these number are.

can anyone help?

ok, ive got the exact same manual here (frigging useless s**t it is), if you turn to page 340 it lists all the wiring diagrams with a number in brakets after them, look for the ones with a 5,11,12,13,17,19 and 22 after them thats where that brown wire goes to, im guessing its for number plate lights, cluster lights etc etc etc which all come on when your headlights are on

Yeah buy gregory's or genuine ford... the other manuals aren't really worth the money.

thanks for that mate. that brown wire is s**t me off bigtime. its for my tail lights and cluster lights. they are not coming on when i turn my headlights on.

in the manual it says a high series BEM controls the cluster illumination and has 3 plugs. mine is a black BEM with 2 plugs but there is a third plug under the dash with a cover over it.

could i have the wrong BEM installed?

Do you have a tow bar? The trailer plug can very often cause problems.
