my Ea was going fine , now all of a sudden it just will not start, i tried jump starting it and that didnt help ,so the battery must be fine, anyone know what the problem could be ?

When you turn the key to ignition (engine off) does the fuel pump kick in? or is there just silence...if silence thats not good...that means your fuel pump just shat (is that even a word?) itself.
and basically what Krytox said...fuses, dizzy, spark plugs, leads. Does it turn over but just won't start? if so it's either spark related or fuel related...most likely anyway. good luck hunting phong =P~

yea it turns over but just doesnt start, ill go check all the things yas said, if no luck ill just get me mechanic to have a look at it. Thanks for the help

i just checked all the fuses , and they are fine , and now all of a sudden me car starts lol , wtf..

bats, this problem comes up among EA's every now and i'll tell you what the problem usually is as I had the same problem on my EA. Because the car is around 15-20 years old, the wiring coming from the battery is usually corroded and worn giving poor connection. Change all that wiring (or replace the tattered ones) and it should be starting first time everytime.

I was going to suggest that as well but wasn't sure if its the fuel pump first  , but yeah what smiley said. The wire cable could have corroded or even the earth. Try starting the car and turning the headlights on...if the car just suddenly turns off its your power cable. Happened to mine while I was about to go to work...the cable was hanging of one copper strand...enough to keep the car running but as soon as I turn the headlights on the whole car just cut off.

is your car CFi or MPFI engine And is your gearbox 3 speed or 4 speed overdrive auto if 3 speed go to a self serve wrecker and get a 4.0L ED-EL engine and 4 speed overdrive auto and take out the ECU for the engine and engine loom, fuel pump as well so hopefully this page should help with engine conversions
