Hey, guys hopefully someone can shed some light on my problem.
My fairlane is misfiring slightly at idle and under general load if is revved hard black smoke and rich smell of raw fuel is obvious.

I have a new..
Distributor
Ignition Coil
Spark Plugs
Spark Plug Leads

today i advance the timing slightly to try to rectify the problem but didn't really help still rich still black smoke this is s**t me to the end i fitted my pacemaker extractors today and with this mis the engine is lacking some serious torque and nobody seems to no s**t all it's an ED engine i swear im going to go bald before my time from frustration.........

check the vac lines and the fuel reg. sounds like she's loading up bad

Thanks for the quick reply mate i've renewed all the vac lines but haven't check the fuel reg it's the same as it is on gas though but i'll have a look anyway frustrating as all s**t though....... :evil:

oxy sensor? i'd have to be bloody horrible.

If its on gas i'd swap out the MAP and see if it took a backfire at some point. TPS might be a bit d**k as well?

i stuck a new oxy sensor in today mate nothing different from before. and i swapped out the map sensor from an EA i have nothing changes s**t this is annoying lol least u seem to know exactly what im chasing cheers

Yeah I have the same problem as you I think

It idles really bad, when jabbing the throttle it coughs and misses, whn cruising and you put the foot down it coughs?

I've tested the MAP sensor and put on a new TPS and no joy! :(

try's to stall out on me just after i start it. I'll drive off and then the ignition seems to advance massively. the more i put the foot down it slows the car, enough so to even backfire in to the manifold (intake)

has only a slight miss at idle

Check your fuel filter. My ED did this due to running E10, changed the filter and all was good in the world again

also almost sounds like timing is way out, my mates EB wagon has the same issue but his was the cam timing was one tooth out

Hay guys i have the same problem as this, mine is backfiring massivley when i use the throttle, its its ball less, s**t, i dunno what it is i replaced my ignition coil (brand new), and my distributor (second hand), i mean i had no spark when it was hot and i got a second hand distributor and its now doing this, did any one have a possible solution?

As in base timing? if so they had it set up by a light and i havnt tried the filter yet but i will

either base timing or running timing, both will need to be reset, has the head been shaved? or any work done on the motor lately? the cam could be a tooth out

i see you have an AU motor in an EB, are you 100% the dizzy was put in the correct way?
