theres been alot of talk about exhaust systems, im just wondering (as you do) is would there be much of a difference between a 2 1/2 MANDREL bent cat back and a 2 1/2 standard bend cat back. also would i be worth paying the extra dosh for a mandrel bend??????

Yup, cause you get a constant diameter through the bends rather than it being squashed when you bent it without a mandrel.

Mandrel bent systems don't even cost that much really, so it's definately worth getting.

It only gets costly when they have to be made on the spot as a lot of exhaust shops don't have the mandrel bending equipment to make a custom system

Off the shelf mandrel bend setups are pretty similar in price to the press bent systems ... as they are all made in bulk from a set design.

i was speaking to the exhuast bloke who did some of my stuff, and when they buy a sports exhaust system that they just bolt up, they don't even bother with the press bent, it's practically the same price fo rthem to get mandrell and a lot more common. only pipes they do themselves are press.

What kind of tone do you get out of that setup??
As what i want is something loud, that has a decent tone, and maybe will turn heads, or atleast sound good.

Yeah mandrel bent all the way!!! The bends in a press bent system even thou they say 2.5 the bends are actually less than 2' so yeah a big difference considering a mandrel bent is an even diameter throughout the whole pipe. :)

The Lukey mufflers are good thou, im happy with my Lukey Race muffler you get a nice sound out of those! :D

Best noise I've ever had my exhuat making is when I started it with only extractors on...
Any straight through muffler will sound good.

yeh there still available, when i got my exhaust 2 1/2 cat back (NOT mandrel bent  ) they had to make up the pipe that goes between the cat and the rear muffler.

looks like im gonna have to ditch my current zorst and go for a mandrel one

when i JUST GOT MINE YESTERDAY :) i forgot to specify mandrel bent, rang back up and they said thats standard for sports exhaust cat back system.

cost me $330 + $30 for tip (didn't need tip, but thought oh well).

the difference is NIGHT AND DAY its amazing, I'm still bubbling about it now. Especially in first gear, the acceration is so much smoother, the car flows a lot better now. This could be because my old exhaust was s**t and needed replacing, but still, my car feels like it got a massive upgrade.

and the noise .. wow ... compared to the stock exhuast its the best thing ever ... oh yea i got lukey and it's awsome, still breaking it in. doesn't drone while cruising and roars along when pushed.
