Hey , my mate just got yellow sticked for a steering wheel that wasnt the original and for having 17" Rims on his commodore. He told me that the cops said that he had to have some sort of form that allows mods on a car ?
Does anyone know if this is true ? I was thinking bout putting rims on my car but if its gonna get me yello sticked then screw it.

i think legal rim size is 2 inches bigger? maybe cant remember
steering wheel is probably the main factor, you cant change it if it had an airbag installed or something else.. oh, and isnt there a max width ur allowed to change? eh, guess its another commodore off the road  all will be good when u can yellow sticker for it being a commodore

Agreed. The Steering wheel was probably because it had an airbagas standard, and the new wheel didn't. I haven't heard of a form, but then again I haven't been yellow stickered yet....

you need to get a permit on those things - eg extractors & the like. go to a transport centre, pay $35, and get a permit issued for whatever you've got that aint stock!

s**t, you westerners are backward.
the steering wheel will be because of the airbag, or it has something "shiny" on it, and you are allowed 1 inch diameter larger than the largest wheels that model of car came optioned with, and i think its 2 inches on width, up to a max of 10 (some states differ)

All these restrictions/catches are for W.A. only right? I mean, not NSW?! |

I thought every state except Victoria could have 10" wide wheels and Vic could have 12". And rim diameter is unimportant as long as the rolling diameter is the same, or no more than 1" out.
I thought also that mods like wheels, not steering wheel for the airbag issue, were "owner approved" mods? |

what id like to know is if it not legal then why do shops sell the stuff??
does that mean shops are selling illegal prodoucts?????
