Hello everyone
I am new to this arena and also to the world of 'doing up' fords (and cars in general). I have been a long time raising a family and the time has come to do a bit to my falcon wagon. Knowing nothing and having no time to do things myself I have been to a professional workshop here in brisbane for a quote. Wondering if I could get some feedback on the price I have been quoted for the work that would be done. As follows: Exhaust system (custom Mandrel Bent) including headers and Hi-flow s/s Cat.;Air Intake and filter;Spark plugs and fuel filter;Ford Flasher and Custom tune. Round about the $4000 mark for talk of about a 30% increase. Value for money here? Cheers

price is rather steep, your almost raptor supercharger kit for that coin.

a guide to the common mods and some guide prices can be found at the top of this forum (6 cyl)
or here

labour can be a killer though, most of your stuff can be done in a couple of hours.

If you're going to travel down the custom tune path may as well put a bigger cam in as well. For the few extra dollars it will complement the rest of the mode nicely

can do most of that alot cheaper.... by yourself with a little help.

wouldnt worry about the cat btw...

first stop would be Right Price Exhaust if your on the southside, not sure on the north...
get a 2.5 system cat back and extractors (brands offered: Lukey, Redback, Genie, Pacemaker)

i went for redback system, single muffler, with pacie's for circa 800.00 i think (i have AU3 Ute)
then go to ebay and get a XR/Tickford Snorkel i think circa 30-40.00 you can install this yourself, just 2 screws. next step is to change your filter, depending how tricky you want to get you can install a pod, easiest way is to follow the tutorials in this forum. or you can get a k&n replacement panel, i think there 100.00ish, i went with a POD in the box.

Plugs you can get from Supercheap/Autobarn like a Iridium of some king (bosch) and leads the same few brands to choose from, TOPGUN are good, as well the top Bosch ones. i have bosch lead and plug.

easiest way to do the leads/plugs/fuel filter/oil filter (and cheapest) if you dont wont to do it yourself, is to buy all the parts from a shop eg.SCA or Ebay. then next time you get a service instead of them replacing with there own s**t, get them to replace it with your parts.

thats where i am at currently all up i have spent under 1200.00. i am now doing exterior (wheels, lowered, then interior momo wheel etc etc) next step i would take, is to get a cam, and a tune, i would be using one of the forum sponsors, and taking it to a specialist to install.

personally i think you could do a lot more with your 4000.00 if you move it around and not all in one basket.

Thanks everyone for the input. Figured it could be done cheaper but it is not something I would do myself. It's also important that I have as little down time as possible and that the car is absolutely reliable (kids, work etc probably an age thing). Would have comeback too if anything wasn't right. I am on the south east down Wynnum way.

Can't recommend any one over that way from my experience. Can recommend someone on the Northside, plus suggest a workshop on the westside (archerfield area). Let me know if needed.

Joe
