I have just bought a 85 falcon ute on LPG , it's a stock 4.1 with 3 speed auto and i'm wondering how I can get more killerwatts out of her with minnimal cost . And also what measurement a compression test should be . Any tips would be much appreciated thanks .

I'd always start with a decent set of extractors and a 2.5" exhaust and go from there

Lower the diff ratio, its more than likely to be 2.77:1. Change them to 3.23 or 3.27:1 in LSD. Get a hi stall convertor, about 2,500rpm, then start on the donk. Extractors, tweek the dizzy, cam...etc...

A bloke up the road has a 4.1 XE with twin down draught Webers, A lumpy cam and extractors and it is one of the most powerful 4.1's I've ever known. He's selling the car so I might buy it for a few parts then I'll be selling the engine and gearbox.

the crossy go hard with the right set up, i have a crossy that would blow the doors off most of the N/A I6's on here, doesnt really have a idel under 1200 rpm and is paracticly underivable under 1500rpm, only cost around 1k to build.

anyways mate what is the ute for work, fun, daily driver ? and what are you looking to spend ?
