Does the engine still run OK ? My EB has the same kays and still goes strong, has no bottom end noise and does not eat oil. With your engine its nothing a can of degreaser or 2 wont fix.

well it runs good in terms of power (cant have much as a P plater) but it over heats after about 2 hours of constant driving and it's got a bad tiking niose at low RPM, but it's got a Brand new manifold and snorkle box, so dats still alright

This thread should be in the 6 cylinder section not in exterior modifications area,

Just get a 2nd hand engine and rebuild, that way you still driving the car, then find a good time and place to swap it over. should take about couple of days.

Ticking, If you have ticking noise means thats your lifters in the head are on there way out or the oil pressure,

Over heating. Has it had a engine flush if not, give it one, should fix the overheating problems

a set of brand new lifters will cost between $8 -$12 ea and u need 12 of them. not too hard to do. also grab a set of rocker cover bolt grommets and that will fix the rocker cover leaks and a tin or 2 of $2 degreaser.
get a mechanically minded mate to help u, do some research here and u should get it done in under a couple of hours.
