Kinda strange that two cars which use the same V8, have such different 6 cylinder donks... |

Pre '99s got a 3.8L V6 with 110kw, Less than a EA Cfi 
Post '99 got a 140kw 3.8L V6, about what a EA MPi had But they did run 15s though (about what 5speed MPi EAs ran too)
The Thunderbird did get a supercharged version of it in the mid 90s and that went quite well for a big Coupe, with mods they can run into the 13s, after that they require big $$ and its not worth it, when V8s are so cheap over there '05 onwards got the Explorer 4L V6 which has 157Kw, or what the EF had.

Generally speaking any straight engine will have more power than a similar V engine. V engines need more in the way of balancing so inherently have more rotational mass to move around. So If the V6 and the I6 have the same basic setup (flow the same, similar cams, timing, size, etc) then the inline or straight engine will have more power. I am not sure of the exact figure but would estimate around the 10% mark at least.
