cool so we are both wrong/right!!?? well i will take some photos and upload the progress.. cheers for all the information/arguments guys! we will be doing it to his car in the coming weeks!! will let you know how it goes! we will use everything off his ef and go to the wreckers and get a el computer!

I thought the looms for the ef engine bay wiring was different to the el, didnt ef have 2 plugs for the loom and el have 1 plug for the loom, isnt the ecu plug different as well

ecu plug is different... hence why you have to run an EL computer (EL + ED are the same)... as for the other loom I have no idea???

becuase ef runs coil packs and and el runs a dizzy, but also there is a tec doco some where you can use the ea to ed loom, just have to run a few extra wires and some plugs will have to be chopped etc

oh yeah... easier to use the ED loom and extend the TPS and ISC wires and that...

im currently have a au engine put into my series one eb fairmont ghia and the mechanic is using the au bbm. duno if hes using the au computer or can he use the eb one?

au bbm map sensor is below throttle body, e seiries is on the firewall

The manifold itself is the same from EF to AU (donno about BA) but he'll probably use a EL computer. Unless he dose the RPM switch trick.

well how u gonna plug the hole under the throttle body left from the au map sensor unless u scrap the one on the fire wall and re wire it to the au one

Yes, sorry your right there.
I think the part numbers are different, and the housing probably is too if one bolts to the throttle and the other to the firewall. But what I don't know is wether they would both function the same electrically, or if the AU one has a different output or somthing. I they are the same, (functionally) it would be as you say, just extend wiring and the plug.

Ok, just looked up ACA catalogue...
EA-EL (88-98) are same part number. But AU has 2 different one. One from 98-00 (series I) and one from 00 on. (series II) plugs look different (easy swap I guess) but the only issue would be of they have a different output to the computer, if so the EL computer wouldn't read it properly.
