for some reason my oil gage in my EF FAirmont is constantly showing NO OIL PRESSURE and i get the audiable alarm..

plenty of oil in the sump and everythings still working sweet.. anybody else has had the same problem?? im guessing an oil pressure measuring unit problem and not the guage...

any body shed some light?? cheers...

Loose connection, or the sender has died.

thats either because its gone open circut(mine did this few days ago ) or it is blocked with crap

best way to check both problems is to screw a mechanical gauge into it run it and see how much pressure there is

Put your cluster into diagnostic mode: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=12
and check to see whether you are getting correct input from the sender first. Takes about a minute and is easy to do.
It will most likely be the sender/and or wiring, but confirm the cluster is not at fault first (sticking needle, etc).
May save unnecessary replacement of the sender if by chance it's not at fault.

My EL Fairmont has had hi pressure at low RPM and lower at high RPM and fuctuations.
So today I bit the bullet and brought a new OEM sender unit $61.
I did it with my oil change to 15w40 LPG oil.
I pulled out the air box and with the ($15)1/2" drive deep 27mm socket, universal joint and short extention out it came easy as.
I went to trade tools with the new sender to do a test fit frist.
Now the good news 5 bars on the gauge, rock steady pressure and one happy camper.
:D :D :D

Degrease your motor before you ghange the sensor or it could be that the oil is shorting out the sensor. BP will not pay you for rilling rights as the last time I saw your moror I could not see the timing case due to oil all over it. It will also make it cleaner to work on.
