i have a ba falcon 2005, recently i have done a few mods exterior and running of the car, xtractors, muffler system, cold air intake. long story short.
it started running like s**t.took it to ford dealership still under new car warranty, they said due mods your 02 sensor is'nt reading correctly, and car'nt be fixed until.

answer they gave me: you will need to put all standard parts on for the car to run properly.they reset the computer but car'nt give an answer why the car will shut down radomly.

please help

when I got my extractors, they put in a new oxygen sensor to suit. you might have to get one for it. Dont believe fraud when they say you need to run standard.

your car is probably overboosting due to the free flowing exhaust, putting it in limp mode.
Might have to go aftermarket computer such as unichip or edit from the sounds of it!
check out www.fordxr6turbo.com.au and have a search on overboosting

I highly doubt he needs an edit, i'm assuming his car is N/A.

ah thats true. just assumed it was turbo.

I remember on my commodore I used to have trouble with my O2 sensor due to the position it sat in with non standard extractors. might have something to do with that.

If it's on gas, and it's cutting out.

It's something to do with the gas system, and it's kinda common.

Is it a BA or BF. The BF's have two oxygen sensors, one before the cat and one after. If the readings from both those sensors look wrong (because it's an aftermarket system for instance) it assumes the cat isn't working properly and puts the engine light on. The BA's shouldn't have that problem as they only have one sensor.

furthermore to what trent said, even BA's use the o2 sensor at idle to determine fuel trims etc. If the sensor has been moved further from the exhaust ports, or has been damaged etc, it will cause it to do all sorts of things like rough idle, cutting out etc.

some other things to check:
*is the throttle body clean (reset the KAM when u clean it)
*battery terminal cleanliness/security
*basics such as fuel pump etc altho a fuel pump would generally cause it not to restart.

could also be something like a MAP/MAT sensor however ive never seen one fail on a BA.

wont be a TPS as that would bring the engine light on also.

any further information, ie. when does it cut out. when idling, on decel, on acceleration?
