my sister brought a EB about 2 months ago when she first got it the engine was nice but after a week or so it started blowing smoke first start up in the mornings after a few minutes the smoke would clear then gradually each morning the smoke got thicker and took longer to clear so after some research i came to the conclusion that it was warn valve guides in the head so i replaced the head but the thick smoke still bellows out the tail pipe that bad that it looks like a burnout at the sumernats but after 15 minutes it goes away, what could be causing it ??? please help i am out of ideas

its only done a 200,000 or so the motor runs smooth as plenty of power and has no rattles, ticks or taps, just the damm issue with burning oil first start in the morning, i thought rings but every motor i have ever seen with stuffed rings smokes all the time.

my EL used to do the same thing and the general consensus @ work was rings. I fixed by putting another motor in :)

when you say "new head" what do you mean?
a fully reconditioned head from a cylinder head shop, or
re-do your existing one yourself, or something else?

Ok, "replaced the head" same diff.
Oil is getting burnt somehow, therefore oil is getting into a cyclinder or cylinders somehow.
Rings would imply all the cylinders are contributing to the smoke.

How about taking the lead of no1 plug tomorrow & fire it up. No smoke means no1 is the problem.
Cycle through them all from no1 to 6 over the next week. Interesting to see if one isolates as the problem, or if this doesn't make any difference.

Trying to isolate the problem being either rings or head. Good luck.
