Location: Camden

Hi guys, just joined up on the site-seeking a bit of help for my au2 auto ute (non VCT),

So far it has big mouth air, hurricane headers and 2.5 in pipe, all else is stock on the drive-train, im soon after a cam but am noticing a lot of different opinions and no straight answers online.

Im after better power from idle-3000RPM for around town, a nice lumpy idle and hopefully not to much more thirst, but i also dont want to do anything to the ECU, i dont mind changing valve springs if needed but want to keep costs down to a minimum as its a 10 year old ute and i dont want it to drain my wallet to much.

Have a mate whom i rent off who can install the cam for me, but cant tell me if it would need to be tuned or not, from what i can gather a basic cam upgrade is a drive in, swap cam, drive out type of deal? or am i wrong?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks guys

Tommo

my best guess for your situation would be the crow cams 2232522

Power Range 900rpm- 3500prm

High Torque cam to suit. AU series II.
Not for VCT or XR6

if its auto you wont have much luck running a "lunpy"cam unless a stally is added ..
unfortunatly au are as fussy as f**k when there cam are changed. so more than likely a chip or flash tune might be needed to keep you from pulling your hair out from the engine hunting and stalling all the time..

Thanks for the advise guys, have just ordered a dev4 kit from jim mock, which meets all the requirements.
I tried crow cams first but they said they have no stock for the au motor for another 18 months until they come in from europe.

Will post back soon and let you know how the cam goes.
