Had my xg a month and has a worped head and blown head gasket and worn lifters my mech said get a reco engine im at wst ryde were do i get a reco 6 thanx

would prolly be cheaper to fix. cost me $1300 to fix warped head + new lifters. reco motor will be go close to double that fitted.

well for around 2.6k a recoed engine from top to bottom....
mm do a bit of work while you are there!


and $1300 for a warped head? f**k i hope that was labour inc

price was drive in drive out. at 20 - 30 bucks a pop for lifters x by 12 theres an easy 300. may have even been a tad more. plus welding and crack testing. head was machined a fair way. will only run 98 octane or will ping. replaced leads at same time.

its done 200thou mechan said not worth fixing. theres a 5 litre windsor on ebay 130thousand current bid is 900 is it worth a look the bloke was going to fit it to a xg ute like mine but buying xr8 instead

a fully reconditioned block will set you back $2100 you have to consider if its worth spending money on an old motor.

i got a complete 4l motor u can have for $400 without manifolds. 206000k's, runs sweet as, out of a eb fairmont ghia.

even if you get a low k's AU motor and dump it in. i have been quoted around 2500 fitted for that into the EB. If the ute's got high kays, then just replace the motor.
that said, the i6 bottom end is supposed to be bulletproof. though i don't trust the oil pump on mine...
