Really?? I didn't want to get a shift kit because I'd lose my adaptive shift. I knew they could tune the trans but I didn't want to have a permanent firm shift. How sure are you that they can make it so only tiptronic is a firmer shift? Because I usually only use tiptronic when I'm giving it the car anyway and that's when I would want a shift kit. As long as normal auto is left perfectly stock I might actually do that... and also, how stiff can they make it? Can you say I want it to shift like a stage 2 kit?

Hey mate, contact Joe at CMS (he is a forum sponsor on here) i was talking to him about my transmission while it was getting a service and about firming up the shifts. He mentioned to me that he can firm them up in performance mode only. As for how firm i am not sure if its simply on or off or there are levels. Best to give him a call but any decent tuner should be able to do the same.

The beauty of it it all is you can get more than just the trans tuned as part of the process. Best to have all your mods done so you only pay for one tune though

Cheers

Phil

Thanks Phil. What state is Joe in? If his in Melbourne I'll just give him a ring.
Once I got my extractors and other mods done I was going to get my car tuned. I knew that I could also tune the trans but I thought it just tuned it in general and I didn't want to drive around with a firm shift all the time. But now that I know that performance mode can be tuned only or hopefully tiptronic only then I'll defiantly make sure I look into it.

is their anyway to get a shift kit that only works in performance mode, reason why im looking at a shift kit and not a tune is simple, shift kit -in my budget-, tune -wayyyyy over my budget-

with the mods uve done winman wouldnt you want a tune? just save up for a little longer, wont regret it. also, i dont know if uve been reading but the shift kits get rid of your adaptive shift which is why i no longer get one.

ps. with performance mode, my car doesnt down gear, is this normal? ive only tried it a couple of times so not 100% sure.

grade logic only applies in drive as far as i'm aware. if thats what you're talking about.

Performance mode uses 4th gear lockout under 140kmh & add's 50 'performance' points to addaptive strategy iirc.
it's always in adaptive mode.

hey mate,

Joe is in Sydney, you could pm him though and see if he has suggestions for a tuner in Melbourne who can do what you want. Or use a work phone and give him a call lol

who made the 5 speed autos ?

Not sure on who made the 5 speeds.

I have a service manual I managed to get but lacks a lot of detail (i.e. resistances across solenoids etc)...was all in the name of full manualised BTR, but then I got a manual box :D

Awesome, looking forward to the feedback. Even though know I'm leaning more towards getting my tiptronic tuned for firmer shifts (if it's possible).

got it an and did 700km with it over the weekend.

cherps 2nd andwhere over 4k and when you take it out to redline if you get on the break abit you can start doing some pretty serious powerslides, but like someone said before. wet roads and corners will make it very slippery, changing from 3k with a bit of weight transition and all hell brakes loose!

the instructions had the wrong colours to what the module had so ill post up what the right ones are later.

For $85 delivered and 10min install that cuts your quarter by a third of a sec i think its money well spent.
