why do people struggle at the concept of just using the AU BLOCK?!

I have a AU block/head in my EA. Using all original wiring. And a distributor. I must've used black magic or something to make it work lol

Well, I used just the AU block. Better bottom end, has cross main caps and a stud girdle.
The AU motor still has a synchroniser where the dizzy goes in the E series motors, just set motor at TDC, remove synchroniser, tap out roll pin, swap synchroniser drive gear onto E series dizzy, refit roll pin, drop dizzy in and set timing. DONE

Once you have the AU motor there really isn't to much more to spend on it minus a few welsh plugs and hard to reach gaskets eg sump and rear main for piece of mind bloody sump gaskets are a arm and a leg though

So you reckon just replacing all gaskets and so on to the au engine would be the same power to rebuilding a ea engine?

No a rebuilt engine will always be more powerful and superior in every way except for price.

But your current manifold and distributor will fit into an AU block.. Infact everything will basically interchange and everything you have mentioned you have will fit up to an AU block no worries.

The sump on an AU block needs the casting marks grinded down to clear the K frame on EA-ED and the bottom 2 bellhousing bolts are non existent on the AU so simply don't use them. Those are the only differences you should come across as you're rebuilding the internals anyway.
