Just wondering how much the fuel economy changes when driving normally with a new cam in my EL.. and also, whats else would I have to do to the car to put a new cam in?

AND ALSO, is the performance gain worth the money?

Depending on where you go/how much you pay, a regrind cam is well worth the money IMO. I got a grind done on my cam for $200 and i can honestly say it was the best $200 i have ever spent on the car, i was kicking myself for not doing it sooner.

To get full benefit of an upgrade cam I would suggest getting the engine to breath a bit better first by improving upon the intake, fitting extractors and a mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust.

With a fairly mild grind fuel economy won't change much whilst driving normally, well in my experience anyways..

It will vary from cam to cam due to different profiles and what RPM range they are designed for, but with the profile ground on my cam, it gave heaps more punch in the midrange, and pulled stronger up to redline which was exactly what i was after. Still felt pretty much the same off idle, if not a touch slower, but once it gets to around 2500rpm the cam starts to bring on the torque and it just goes for it. The cam also made my exhaust note sound a million times better both at idle and when driving which was a massive bonus.

Have a talk with Wade Cams on here and tell them what you're after, they do some nice grinds at a real good price. Their cams are known to be good performers and it's proven with all the positive reviews you here about their profiles, especially amongst the i6 guys on here.
