hey all, i just finished puttin my brand new 3.45 LSD diff in my EL and i have a massive vibration thru the whole car at abt 60kph. The diff that i had rebuilt was out of an EF and i have been told that they have different upper control arms that would change the angle that the diff sits. if anyone knows anymore or can help please let me know!
cheers
nash!

it will make a difference, you'll need the ef upper arms and possibly the lower arms (not sure though).
if you get the uppers, get them out of an ef xr6.

had this problem myself, some nong put an EF diff into the EL I had bought and yep the top arms are longer on the EF. so the pinion angle is all wrong and it vibrates around 50-55 kmh, just perfect for all those 50kay side streets huh. just go down the wreckers and get a set of EF arms and while your at it the hand brake cable for an EF as they are different too!

I dont know what your problem is with your arms being (so called) different lengths between EF to EL sedan.I fitted a EL XR diff to a EF Falcon sedan the earlier in the week and road tested it and had now problems whatso ever, straight bolt up.You might have worn uni's or you could try loosening the tailshaft bolts and clean the diff and tailshaft mateing surfaces because you only need a little bit of dibre to fall between the sealing surfaces and you will get vibrations at any given speed. So i would try that first before goin out buying different arms which will cost you money. And the handbrake cable fitted up properly in the diff swap i did.Thats just my experience.

might not have any problem from EL diff into EF cos they have 3 location holes on the upper mounting point (top of diff) where as EF only have one hole.

most of the problems with the vibration is cos of the pinion angle being to much.

anyone got any pics of a EF or EL diff mounting points???

There isnt 3 different mounting holes on the top of the diff there is only one.And thats the only one i used, like i said i road tested the vehicle and it was perfect. So there could be different lengths out there but as far i as i know i havent come across it yet.But if i do i will let you guys know.
