Hi guys just after some advice on engine replacement for my au1 fairmont which has done roughly 270,000 kms now. I'm either looking at getting a rebuilt 4.0 litre 6 or a tickford xr6 engine put in. just after any feedback or ideas you guys would have on this issue thanks.

its ALOT cheaper to just throw a second hand motor in than get one rebuilt, whats wrong with your motor is it stuffed or do you just feel the need to replace it?

i was looking to get a replacement engine not rebuild the one i have. just thinking its getting on in age, wouldn't have the power etc it used to.i"ve had it for 4 years got it when it had 130,000 on it

if youv serivced it and havent thrashed the pants off it i wouldnt bother replacing it, you could drop a tickford au motor in it but it mite of had a hard life and it wouldnt go as good as yours if its had the pants thrashed off it

270.000 km isnt that bad for an au engine. if the engine is not burning oil or has bad engine noises, i wouldnt change it..
