hey guys well i got a exhaust for my bday
pacemaker extractors high flow cat 2.5" mandrel bent sports exhaust now the problem i have is when i put my foot down to go the carries on like its misfiring i just spoke to a mechanic and he said i will need a chip because the stock one wont keep up with the new exhaust or something like that all i wanna no is from the guys that have the same sorta set up did you have this problem? how did you fix it? is it not the exhaust maybe motor(injectors, fuel pressure)? thx in advance the car is a 98 el falcon gli 6 cylinder if that helps Last edited by Kenay on Sat Aug 04, 2007 5:09 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

misfiring wont have anything to do with the exhaust.
Did it do this before you had the new zorst fitted? |

reconnect or replace the 02 sensor.

9 times out of ten a misfire is going to be ignition system realated. the fact it started after the exhaust was put on is more then likely just coincidence.

yeah but new exhaust wont effect it misfiring and you definately dont need a chip for exhaust...i reckon check if oxy sensor was damaged when changed over

they dropped the oxy sensor.
my car did the exact same thing when i dropped mine. just go to a pull-a-part wrecker and get an EF/EL one they are mostly clean still and work fine.

I've just had the exact system fitted just over a week ago, and issue you're having. It's not a misfire, more like a flat spot. I have full new head, complete new ignition system, and the problem wasn't there before the exhaust. Tell me, is only when you're coasting? ie: just keeping enough throttle to maintain speed, and it sometimes feels a bit 'jerky?.. and when you boot it, it runs fine and hauls like a Falcon should? My bet was something to do with fuel, and the o2 sensor made more sense to me. It's only happened about 3 times, but hasn't occured much over the last couple of days, so I've ignored it. I am keen to replace the o2 soon tho, next pay prolly. |
