got a new exhaust today! mainly because the current one was only temporary untill i got the $$$ to get a better one.

2 1/2 mandrel bent, straight through front muffler and a rear hotdog, lets just say im going back tommorow for another muffler!. Its silent cruising with no throttle, but at about 60K's its really F'in loud (like loud enough that after cruising home with my window down my right ear was slightly humming).

Went in expecting $600 for the system and a new cat but after inspecting my cat it was still good (another thing of the list of possible causes to my car running so s**t) so $330 later (and $50 tommorow for the extra muffler) im kinda pleased, hant had a chance to really test it, but id almost say my car seems to run better.

made sure i stood there and watched them fit it too, i saw a few dodgy practices that i didnt like. they gas axed the old mounts and were blowing molten steel at the inside of my rims - and when he was doing the tip he managed to slightly melt my bumper around the outlet - and then when he sprayed over the exhaust with black paint he got a bit of overspray on my bumper, but nothing real bad that would cause me to jump up and down!

exhaust brothers 4 1/2 stars in my books

Is that 4.5 out of 10??? I'd be pretty p****d if someone melted and/or sprayed my car anywhere, even a little bit! They are just being lazy by not taking off the system and welding, cutting, spraying while off the car. It isn't much extra effort, the difference between 4.5/10 and 10/10 I guess!

nah its out of 5, the little mishaps were just that, LITTLE.
the overspray was onto as very thick layer of dirt so it will wipe off (otherwise i would have got schizo) and the melted bit, its barely visible and right on the inside of the cutout for the tip.

Plus all of this was at 4:30 in the arvo and carefactor was low!

Yeah, but I'd still expect better workman ship than that. Even if you're not p****d of, I still wouldn't go back there.

normally i wouldnt but so far ive had two other exhaust shops NOT disconnect/protect my elec system while welding under the car, so these blokes are pure professionals compared to who ive been to previously

Maybe this thread could be of better use if everyone posted up their experiences with exhaust places so i can get an idea of the quality of workmanship i got?

Wait JOSE, don't go back to get another muffler!
It gets quieter, trust me.
I've got extractors into 2.5" with middle muffler and tail pipe resonator.
When I first got it, it sounded like a truck!
Wait a week or so before you make it too quiet.

The people who fitted mine didn't tighten the exhaust to the cat properly, causing it to slowly loosen and eventually fall off a month later.
Turned a 2 hour trip into 7 hours.
A mate of a mate got a HSV system, including extractors fitted to his Statesmen (I don't know stato models :P).
They put the extractor gaskets on upside down so they leaked.
I think you got off pretty good!

he he, i was working night shift when I first got mine.
I used to wake up the whole street just cruising up the road :D
It's alot better now, really only opens up with some revs on board, otherwise it's just a nice low note, that I only hear with the window open.

i wouldnt suggest you go for a system with no rear muffler/hotdog, sounds too much like a lancer with a fully sick exhaust then.
