Hey guys, I'm going to replace my water pump and just wanted a little info. and advice.

Firstly should I go for genuine Ford, or an Ebay job? Will there be a difference between the two when it comes to performance, quality and longevity?

I have a gregory's, so I guess that will tell me how to do it. But are there any tricks or tips you guys have for me?

Anywho, thanks for your help as always.

Piece of piss to change, very straight forward.

I went generic brand from Repco for the EL, haven't had any problems with it.

Thats funny, I've never seen a GMB pump in any ford box.

Compare a GMB / Powermax pump to a genuine ford one,
You'll get thicker impeller and cleaner casting and no doubt a better pump.
They've carried on this pump from EA to BA so it must be reliable.

If you do it right, you can buy a Pump from ford for about $80 + pulley.

My EXPERIENCE with this:

Water pump died (leaking from seal) - went to Repco and agreed to the "cheap" one described as made in China but just as good as the other one which is used by Ford. It f**k out after less than 2 years. I have now fitted the other type (the GMB one I think) - tho it has only been about a year now it's going fine.

Genuine Ford pump, no question. Better design and quality (one part they did design really well). Bayford sell them for $68, with pulley, delivered on ebay regularly.
