i like holdens because they are lighter and have a good first gear

ford more power bad first gear and heavyer

i figure put the ford engine into the holden with for diff gears and u beat both holden and ford

build quality wise i think ford wins it by a long shot

Same thing with my 4480's, bit of a tinny sound to them but when it drops a gear totally different noise.

probly going to take a while for more carbon to build up in the pipes as the exhaust was running very hot for quite some time (for various reasons) and its only recently been fixed.

Roflcopter.

Exactly what i was thinking. That was random.

Back to the point, on the EB2 I run a 2.5" redback with a high flow cat and 4499's and have always been complimented on how good it sounds. Doesn't drone in the cabin. Rumbles along at low rpm and screams up high. Haven't compared the sound back-to-back with 4480's though.

I got redback 2.5" with 1 muffler + resonator. 1 week later, I had the resonator removed :P Sounds heaps better without it. It only drones between ~2500-2900rpm, and freeway driving doesn't get that high so it doesn't matter...I love the sound, getting extractors soon to make it better.

Do hi flow cats also make exhaust louder?

a high flow cat will have less 'muffling' effect than the factory one.

Depends on the quality of the muffler......after a few months, they get louder, as the packing burns...thats cheaper types.....dearer types tend to be a " mechanical "....sound doesn't change for a very long time, by then ( gets louder ) the guts has fallen apart.

Redback sports exhaust use a extra long front muffler which makes the exhaust really quiet(like stock) when fitted with a back muffler resinator on the tail pipe section.

With the in-line six cylinder the exhaust note is unpredictable with different brands, I was in a similar situation to your's a year ago, had a 2.5" lukey single muffler system that sounded sweet: got 4499 pacies fitted: power increase, note not as good, louder.
3 weeks later got a 3" zetti high flow cat: sounds much better, much louder.
6 months later, got head ported out, wade 977b camshaft, larger exhaust valves, custom air intake (3.89 LSD too), tune: sounds fu**ing awesome at high revs (4500-6000rpm) and will easily beat Series 1 VT SS's to 170km and further.
I'm expecting to get flamed for this comment (posting this in the 6 cylinder section) but if you are looking specifically for exhaust note sell your in-line 6 and buy an XR8.

i would say go for a resinator/hotdog aswell.
my mrs au has 2 1/2 system with 1 muffler and while it sounds nice at idle and low cruising rpm, but under load, and on the freeway it resinates pretty bad..

that is good looking turd ! sorry...

Jeez, a bit general there (terrible pun) saying ALL Holdens are good looking...I hope you don't mean VE's - I want to puke everytime I see one. They are SO ugly ... huge great square nose on them, tacked on flares on an otherwise bland heavy body - yuk...I mean, FG's aren't much better...for my money if I had to buy a new car it'd be a 300C - but I'm glad I don't have to...

Sorry, off topic I know, but when you're on a Ford forum reading about how nice VE's look, I had to reply (assuming you are talking about VE's..) Last OK looking Holden in my book were the Ht-G Monaros, and maybe LC torries and HQ's and yes, I agree, its not so much the cars but their rabid retarded red army drivers that are the main worry...

just fitted a berkley system to our AU, it came with a resonator and a muffler. after a week of head ache inducing drone i bought another muffler to fit to it.
It droned horridly while accelorating at 1800 to 2100rpm, it also droned while cruising a 60km/h.
I was not impressed with it at all.
