My brakes are giving me the sh!ts !!!!

ABS seems to be pulsating on off while driving along at freeway speed (not touching the brake pedal obviously) It starts as a vibratinon and intensifies until eth car shakes quite violently.

A quick stab to the pedal can sometimes clear it - but not always.

Really detracts from driving pleasure....

Take the ABS sensors off the backing plates and clean them up, they do build up rubbish on them.

mine has the rubber thingy so does my gf's AU ... easy fix with a bit of glue doesnt really bother me coz i only use the driver door

and only mechanical problem ive had is the handbrake needs adjusting which is common with BA's coz the handbrakes on em are a drum brake set up :S

oh adn the dif has a slight knock every now and then which im sure will cost me sooner or later

I must be missing something here! apart from the seat belt not always retracting I've had none of these problems and the seat belts were a problem in the XF, EA and EL. So i could hardly say its a BA problem
Drum in disc handbrake dates back to EF and is a much better setup than EA-ED and they all need adjusting after awhile.
Seats too high? - I don't think so
Door rubbers falling off? yep every car I've had except my BA!
And the BTR has always been a problem

I would like to leap to the defense of the BTR.

They're not a bad box, they just suffer from two problems.

Ford Bean Counters (EA-ED they went cheap on the clutches and bands, EF/EL/AU they removed the dipstick as they're "sealed for life", BA they went cheap on the internal components but put in quality clutch packs and bands so they wouldn't fall apart driving out of the dealer)

and Burnt Fluid (they should have all come out from factory with a decent transcooler... but the bean counters, again)

EDIT: also, EA-ED internals, EF/EL/AU pump and BA clutches and bands with a transcooler in your housing/solenoids is killer.

And of course the S5, which has never been truly fixed

Ef still has a dip stick in the trans

Did that - lots of metal filings stuck on them (magnets) - but it didn't make it go away.

Titan Ford referred to some piston - possibly in the master cylinder?
Do I simply need to replace the master cylinder and the problem will be gone?

Titan Ford said there is some rod between the master cylinder and the booster that can come loose/need adjusting
What rod?
Sound feasible?
