ok fellas got a bit of a problem here

went to replace my leads on my 95 fairmont today an i must say C*** of a spot to get to. but anyway

when i went to remove the lead for cylinder 3 i noticed it was plugged into plug 4 on the coil pack.
the samne applied for cylinder 4 being plugged into plug 3 on the coil pack.

now im not rocket scientist but that is odd, the car has run rough now an again ever since the reco motor was put in nearly 7000kms ago. i replaced the leads the same as i found them, do you think that my running rough problem may be because of the mechanics stuff up as the problem hasnt gone away it still runs rough now an again. new leads on today an plugs were done less than 10,000kms ago.

the car surges still like it used to. not all the time but now an again. does it at idle too.

I think 1/2/ - 3/4 - 5/6 fire in groups, It shouldn't 'really' affect it but Its nicer to have it the right way!

when i change the leads on mine and the wifes ef. i took the hole air box off that way i could get my hands down were the air box was.it is a bit of extra work but it also helps to put the leads on tight and less skin lost as well

dont u just hate it when u put so much money and blood onto the car only to have the car run not rite......but yeah best way is to pull the air box out. wasnt as hard since i had my mate push the leads down as i placed them in the right position.

phong =P~

if they werent on the correct plug then you would know about it, would be more than a little rough.

ford put two leads around the wrong way on my ea,i didn't notice a thing till i changed the cam shaft,they had reversed leads 2 and 3..s**t it ran well after we changed them over.

they seem to learn around things like this for some reason.

well iv fixed the leads problem still surges, still idles a little rough sometimes. so now back to square one.

could the cat be f**k an causing it to run badly. as the car has what seems to be stock exhaust replaced back in 2001 with super cat mufflers. over the past 6 months it has begun to drone when driving at 1800 - 2200 rpm an been getting worse so im havin a stab in the dark an sayin the cat is rooted. could it be the cause of my problem?
