Just a quick question.
I have some oil sitting here at home which is 10w60.
The recommended AU oil is 5w30.
is that overkill for it, or will it be fine?
Thanks

Depending on how many km's ur motor has done and drviving style u have eg, city, highway

With my daily EL on LPG which has a fully reco motor which has done 25,000kms to date i use Valvoline Engine armor 15-50w which is also good for cold start ups & for lpg cars as they do not lubricate the head.

i just saw it sitting in the shed and was tempted to use it.
i'll probably put some of that magnatec in it, it's 10w40 which is fairly close.

Use 10/30 mate ,thats what is recommended by ford. They changed the series 1 which was a 5w/30 to 10w/30 in the series 2.I had an au and used that magnetic s**t in it and she rattled like buggery.Up to you though.

Dude if u have it you might as well use it, it aint going to hurt your motor, if anything have a better seal. 10-60 i think is perfect for your motor. You rather have it a tad thicker than thinner.

Is it minieral base oil?

Yeh through it in. Its simple more km's on the motor the thicker oil you should use. Keep your engine healthy & change oil every 5,000kms or every 3 months, Which ever comes first and im a valvoline fan, i found that using valvoline & castrol that every time i dropped the castrol it was a tad more black which i would figure it has broken down more & the valvoline wasent as much.

That oil would be fine if you were going caravaning, or you live up here, CQ, cause its hot & humid.
What colour is the PCV Valve? ifits black, change it to a grey one. the later AUs had this to stop oil consumption.
