hi guys

just a quick question?
are the oil pressure senders the same from ea to au..

the ea has a sports cluster with the oil guage
ive just put au engine in ea and the oil pressure guage just sits in one spot doesnt rise or drop it just stays on the same spot when engine is running..

the senders look the same but i thought they may have different ohms between the two...??????

not sure if they are the same
but it sounds like the EA had a sender that detects the pressure, where as the AU just has the low spec low pressure switch

like twistedel said, there are 2. the low spec one which is like an off on switch, and the higher spec one which measures the actual pressure.

i went to repco and they didnt know what i was talking about, so ending up buying one from ford for 50 bucks, shop around though and you should get one much cheaper. even pull one out of an xr/fairmont at a wreckers

Have you still got the EA motor? If so take the sender from that.

Take the air box out and you'll get to it fairly easy.

AU Fairmont has a guage
However I have heard once before that they are different to the regular sender.

if both motors had the guage then they should be the same.

ok

with the old engine the oil pressure read about 3/4 when driving and would drop down to about 1/4 when idling(when the engine was still good)

now with the au engine the oil pressure sits between 1/4 and 1/2 and stays there it doesnt go up or down..

i guess its ok but i thought that there might have been a slight difference in resistance giving me different readings..

hi
just a update
the senders look the same but the au one reads different..
i took the one out of the ea and it now reads just over 1/2 and it will go up slightly when you rev it and drop back to 1/2 on the guage when it idles
where the au one read low and stayed low ..
so its all good now..

thanks for your replys

must be calibrated differently for the different gauges.
