if your oil pump was dying, you would hear you engine knocking when you start it up as it would have the lack of oil to lubricate!

Mine ticks for a about 5 seconds when it starts up, i thought it was just the lifters as they havn't got any oil luberacating them straight away.

my oil pressure gauge is reading just above the red on idle but when you start getting the revs up it goes to just past half way.

even if it's been runing for a while, like after or during driving (as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator), hot or cold, i swear in used to stay between half and 3/4 all the time.

mine sits at 2 (i dunno if it's p.s.i or what) when cold. then when it heats up it drops to 0.5. but when you rev it it goes up to 2 again. is this normal?

well if your worried, get a mechanic to put a guage on it. oil guages on fords are only good for telling you whether there is or there isn't oil pressure.
If the lifters aren't tapping at idle with a warmed engine (run for at least 30 mins) then don't stress too much.
