Hi people i was putting a new battery in my car yesterday and noticed some oiley residue round the breather on my tappet cover. So what i want to know is it something serious or just a case of the rubber gromet leaking. Would just like to know what you guys think. (Cars a el xr6)

Cheers Nick

Wouldnt worry about it, is your PVC valve working? does it rattle when you shake it?

Thanks for the reply bowsaw i didnt think it would be to serious but i thought i better check. Im guessing the PVC valve is the little valve that goes through the rubber grommet on the tappet cover. I will have a look at it later.

Thats the one, if it rattles its ok if it dont get a new one, its a one way breather valve.
