It wouldn't just simply be my oil pump?
Or possibly the oil pressure gauge.

A lot of the time it depends on how the engine was looked after prior to you owning it.
The bottom pick is of an engine that has an oil change every 5,000 km....using Mitsubishi 15W50 engine oil.

I believe it was serviced regularly.

first thing i would try is get a mechanical oil pressure gauge and check the pressure, it may just be a bad sender.

then if its still suffering low oil pressure it could be worn bottom end bearings..

Like a cheap replacement engine.

I have a 130 000km old one sitting at home it's anyone's for $250.

Exactly, I just picked one up with 150,000 for $250 with an auto a few weeks ago to replace mine thats ready to see 300 & box that's about to give up. The way I look at it, I'm halving my kms for $250. Can't go wrong as long as you have the gear to do it.

It could be the pump, but the point were all getting at is if it's got internal mechanical problems, your better off just replacing with a low km unit. Saves opening anything up and replacing expensive parts in an already old worn out motor. If it is only a sender, which I doubt because they usually either work or they don't, then all is well.
