What is the best oil I should be using on my EL XR6 ute (XHII)
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between synthetic and semi synthetic and should I be using any of them

I would recommend Penrite HPR 15.
Best thing to do is go to the Penrite website and contact them tell them what car you got and how many Ks it has. I've done this for every car I got and always got a response.
Most people here use Penrite.

A fully synthetic oil like Mobil 1 is a man made oil that is cleaner than a mineral based oil and will protect better. It is best used in a car from new. Not to be used in a high mileage car because it is not as viscous (thick).

A semi-synthetic oil is a mineral oil with added man made elements for better protection.

Cheers

Nah... i did the switch from dinosaur-food-juice to mobil 1 at 160,000km. Engine running smoother than ever (minus a few tuning issues) and she doesnt burn a drop. Never looking back.

70 bucks an oil change blows goats tho.

Nah just got lucky. Their oil consumption usually a result of worn bores caused by all the slappin' from piston design. Awesome motors if you get a good one.
