Hi All

I have noticed the last few times when i have started my fairlane up it has started to let water out of the exaust. i havent found any drop in coolant level but the water that is coming out of the exaust is clear untill i press the exelirator down then i have found the water to be orange. is this normal, the frount end is exposed to weather however the bonnet is down.

would this just be being created by the catolic converter and the orange colour caused by rust?

Regards

Barry

If it only happens in the morning, then it's just condensation (with a bit of water from combustion reaction) with a mixture of rust from the exhaust system.

ok thanks, at the moment the car is on stilts while i respray it but i do turn over the car and let it run weekly. usually in the morning on a sataday. i wil give it a good hour run this afternoon and see what it does.

if it keeps it up is it likely major work?

could be...do the usual, check your oil for milky colour, check your overflow for bubbles check around head gaskets...but it is pretty normal for a car that sits for a while to blow some of the rusty water out...mine does it if it sits for more than a week...but a good run clears it.
