Hey everyone

I went looking for a christmas present for myself.. turns out these K&N panel filters are around $145. Seems expensive for just an air filter. Are they really of that much benefit?

they have a 1,000,000 warranty - so if you use the recharge kits, you'll never have to pay for an airfilter again! :P so they do pay for themselves in that regards, plus they're better than the crappy filters that are normally used

IMO, not of the performance variety.
But you can wash them!
I wash mine all the time, seeing as it always gets full of bugs and s**t.

shop around you should be able to pick one up for no more than $120, i paid $135 for my bmc, no real gain over the good quality paper filter.
some flow test results were posted a while back showing ac delco just slightly below the k&n and bmc.

I noticed the seat of your pants feel when I put a K&N and a bigger intake snorkel on my EF GLi. Actual gains would be minimal but it felt quicker.

Feels quicker with both the GT intake and the filter.. Not much, but eh. Merry Christmas to me.
I did notice there is a wooshing noise when I got out of the car.. doubt the noise actually does anything performance wise though hehehe

Autobarn should have them cheaper with their xmas sale. I think they are at $110 at the moment.

When I first put mine on it helped fuel economy a little and helped a little bit more up top too. Not much but atleast you aren't buy new filters every year :)

Alternatively get yourself a Redline Airfilter (made by k&n) which is the same but also has a metal lining through the rim of it in the rubber surround too making it actually stronger/better wear and tear.

Same deal as k&n, about $75-95 instead and same results on the dyno.

4-8rwkw on the dyno difference*
