hey guys, i'm just wondering if anyone has as much bad luck with engine mounts as i do? i went thru 6 on my old xf with its MASSIVE  70rwkw and that was with never dumping the clutch. now in my EB (also prolly with s**t all power becoz its on lpg) i broke two with the auto (never N-D'd) and i've now converted it to a manual and i think i've broken some more (i have dumped the clutch this time). if i havent broken ones atm then my engine leans over too much more my liking so what can i do about this?

can i get stronger engine mounts (i've been using stock replacement rubber ones) or can i get an engine shocky or something.

i've been getting mine at autopro (outbound) on brighton road. welding them would transmit a lot of vibrations thru the car :? i had a 4spd XF too 8-)

as far as the chains idea, i was thinking a cable from the engine to the strut tower that was a little loose so it only tightened (and transmitted vibrations) under hard acceleration which u wouldnt notice then anyway.

same deal with my XF only i had to break 2 before the engine would jump...
also while i'm asking questions, can anyone describe the path that the clutch cable on an EB takes ie. down from the firewall, over the steering rod, behind the sump/under the sump :? etc

If you wanted to go all out you can buy engine dampners. Common in the import/drifting scene. basically just a small shock absorber bolted from the motor to strut tower usually

i've seen them around and me and my mate keep joking that i should get one but they dont make em for falcon....it might be a task for saturday arvo sometime... i dunno if i want a shocky tho (coz they still allow lots of movement but just not quickly whereas a cable just says NUP.... STOP!!!

if you stop something from moving that is supposed to move, something else will break and you will be even more unhappy than what you are now 8-)
