Are these the front or rear callipers?
The front ones should just push in with a G clamp. Just make sure your pushing it in square and not on an angle.
The rear ones you need to use a piston resetting tool as they screw in. The tool shouldnt set you back anymore than 25 bucks or so. The tool just connects to a normal socket set ratchet.

Thats the only thing i can think of, i'm not sure if the EF has the pistons that wind in. You can usually tell because there is a notch in the piston on the outer side. All i now is that my EA had it and so does my XG ute.

Good luck with it buddy

Well I use a big 'G" clamp to push the callipers back. If that doesn't do it you may have a seized calliper.

And take the cap off the Master cylinder first

EF calipers all push in, it's only the earlier ones that wind in, Make sure you are pushing it SQUARELY (I eithier use a brake piston resetting tool, or a big G Clamp) I'd say if u are pushing it nice and squarely, you just arent pushing it hard enough, even seized calipers will move eventually, try undoing the bleed nipple (this means you will have to bleed the brakes). I reckon if u push it hard enough, push it squarely, and undo the bleed nipple, the piston will go back.

I did my front n rear brakes with a 10 dollar g clamp from supacheap they should go back in wasnt hard at all, but yer if cant move it as stated above undo bleed nipple n should take the pressure off piston even if ceased, drench the piston n surrounds in wd40 or sumthin to lube it up

depressing the brakes with the assembly removed is possibly the worste thing you could have happen. couldve caused a plethora of problems.

also when your pushing the piston back in make sure to give it time to retract, don't just go all rambo on it because it won't move.

Just a little bit off topic. As before when i was talking about the brakes on the rear of my old ea and xg how they are the wind in piston style. How is it that the piston can come out and apply pressure to the rotor when it cannot unscrew itself due to the notch in the actual brake pad because when u install it this notch has to go in the recess in the piston and this would stop it from turning clockwise or anti clockwise.

I understand how to change my brake pads but I have always wondered why this is the case.

I replaced front/back brake pads in my EL Fairmont in under 2hrs in the carport about 1yr ago on a lazy sunday afternoon. It's a piece of piss. As other guys have mentioned buy a disc caliper spreader tool for $20 and you will sort it out easy.
