im changin my 1990 ea spac from a 4sp auto to a 5sp manual,i changed the auto on an 88 ea wagon but that had the 3 sp auto,on my ea s pac i have noticed down on the drivers side floor next to where the clutch pedal is going to sit is a module.Is this the auto module and will it affect anything with it dissconected with the manual box in it?also the wiring on the manual has an 8 pin and 1 pin plug,the 4sp at has 2 8 pin plugs with no 1 pin plug,what is the 1 pin plug for?am i gong to have to splice one of the other wires to wire it in?

I'm not really sure but I know your pain.

I'm in a simular situation atm.

In an auto the ECU controls when the gears shift and in a manual I don't think they do???

So maybe that's what the different wires are for.

Nope, shouldn't affect a thing as it should only really interact with the auto, and that'll be gone!

i think the EA to early ED had a seperate TCM module that changed gears etc etc but i am sure you need to resister trick the auto ecu to stop it sending info back and fourth trying to find revs etc etc but what do i know i haven't done this yet COME ON TAX MONEY :P

hi mate.i did the manual converstion and didn`t borther with the resitor trick.just disconect the bat and leav it until your ready to go.works ok.just rember to by pass the safty switch so you can start it.any other info mate.pm me.
