Went autobarn to get a pod filter setup, anyway, bloke noticed i got gas on the ed as well, and said i would need to get it re-tuned to run on gas otherwise it will backfire and "blow up" the pod and piping or some hoo-haaa. So anyway, been just on petrol at the moment, just wonderin why the f**k it would blow up, or would it?

i dont know much about gas setupos but it sounds like he is talking out of his a*** to me,.. those blokes arent norm, ally very "knowledgable" i once got asked if my xf has IRS?!? i cant see why a new filter would effect anything, and if it back fired you would be more worried about ruining the mixer i would think.. but anyways maybe soeone who knows what theyre on about would be better fielding this one

yeh, i thought it sounds rather strange, he said it was because the system just guesses the air fuel mix or some crap with gas and the pod will cause more air to go into the mix or some junk

The reason for this is because when the car backfires on Gas the pod filter can create a flamethrower type effect and it can catch on fire, if that doesnt happen then your missing one filter as it will split the pod just from the sheer presure!! Im dead serious, i was gonna do the same to my XR6.

It can happen with a normal air box too, sometimes they can blow the fricken top off of them. havent you ever heard your car make a massive bang exploding noise b4, it happened once with my Xr6 but luckily nothing was damaged.

I actually got told that by a few people. Um i wouldnt be keen to try it out, but its your choice. :?

Correct me if im wrong but i believe it does happen

yeh id be listening to the guy at autobarn hes not talking out his a***.. when lpg backfires it can blow the airbox to peices. this is why some people on lpg have the spring clips for the airbox as opposed to the normal ones. this stops the airbox smashing.. so therefore if it happened with a pod id be pretty worried, you would at least do some serious damage to the filter

yeah, the guy knew what he was talking about.. but it doesn't mean to turn away, just use those clips on the adapter for the pod... or better yet, get a panel filter, they are just as good if not better..

Cheers

Yep go a K&N panel filter with a bigger snorkle and you will most likely get a better throttle response on LPG and Petrol. :P

My gas system wont change from petrol to gas, you just gotta have it on gas to start with because if you change it petrol to gas it stalls, gas to petrol is fine but. Never even noticed backfiring.
So is getting car tuned again with pod on goin to help stop such a thing happenin. And when you do say how flames shoot out and big bangs on pod etc, is this just like, rare occasions or like any time your on a norm gas cruise?
