if you meen covered as in from heat?
its not totally necesary but to get the most performance wise out of the pod you should keep it shielded or keep it in the airbox.
as the cooler the air the better..

Put the pod in the ef airbox, it will shield it from heat but will restrict it more than unboxed. A pod in the box will also draw less attention from the rozzers.

the rozzers, you have been watching james may on top gear again havnt you?

an unboxed pod is illegal on the grounds that it upsets the emissions pollution. in a box=coppers no worry. outside box=all sorts of trouble.

box it, and add some extra piping a la xr turbo 2nd CAI. just as good and you cant get done.

that cant be right. its not illegal to have an un boxed pod in your engine bay aslong as its secured. my mates wrx just passed the pits with his pod all he had to do was weld a bracket onto the intake securing it to the chassis.
k&n panel filter is a better option for a 6 cylinder falcon, fits straight into the air box. same s**t different bucket
