its not to hard to do a clean up at all. If your going for the max then you need a flow brench. Most gain is in the blow at the inlet valve so there is no lips around the valve seat. Clean up in the ports and the valve guild support. There are pently of good books on the subject. But DONT touch the valve seat. A good valve cut is the last thing to do if you are just starting to the head, do all your porting first.

CJH have you got any flow ratings for that head you done?
I am keen to know how it goes.

I'm keen as, to see how it goes, but I have several projects on the go at once. One is that I can now recondition EA to ED steering columns. I put a new needle roller bearing at where they fail, and the bearing I use is way better quality than original, and I make a new bush too, half way up the steering shaft.
I gotta machine valve pockets in my new pistons too, as well as finish doing the crank.

Here's a head that I did myself. It takes a lot of time and know how. Yes, port matching is benificial, but you gotta know how to do it in such a way that no matter how many times you take the inlet manifold off, it always goes on in the same spot no matter what. Same for the exhaust.
Otherwise your wasting your time.
You need more than just a diegrinder, you need the right burrs for it, flapper wheels, polishing tips & compounds, and know where to remove metal, and where to leave it be and smooth it over.

I agree with everything bar the perfect line up, check the slack with a manifold when u bolt it up... It wont go backin the same spot unless you work it out with pressure, even then you wont be 100%!
Bowl work is the most important part as the std ports are pretty big.

See this head and manifold in this pic, they are perfectly aligned, because I made it that way. You have to modify them to get it right.
Take a Val Hemi 6cyl engine, they were the only ones that bothered to get it really close for factory. The inlet has dowls to line up the manifolds. Have a look one day.
I dont mean to blow my own trumpet, but it is possible that I have worked on more makes of cars then most on this forum. Even some that don't even exist anymore, like Willys, Nash, Wollsley (spelling?) etc....
