Since buying my writen off EF I am tossing up weather to do the head up and put it in my car, and one of our mechanics said porting and polishing is easy you just need a di grinder, is that true or should i get it done by pro's

It is easy in that you can make ports bigger with a die grinder.

However, doing it in a way that will actually lead to more power does require research. There are some good guides on the net explaining how to go about it. I suggest doing a lot of reading and then go ahead if you feel comfortable with it.

you really need to have access to a flow bench to achieve maximum potential from cylinder head porting, see the pros

Yes but if your going for maximum potential you will need a degree in fluid dynamics as well.

The truth is that most pro's wont flow street heads unless the customer asks (and pays) for it anyway.

Here's a head that I did myself. It takes a lot of time and know how. Yes, port matching is benificial, but you gotta know how to do it in such a way that no matter how many times you take the inlet manifold off, it always goes on in the same spot no matter what. Same for the exhaust.
Otherwise your wasting your time.
You need more than just a diegrinder, you need the right burrs for it, flapper wheels, polishing tips & compounds, and know where to remove metal, and where to leave it be and smooth it over.

I agree with everything bar the perfect line up, check the slack with a manifold when u bolt it up... It wont go backin the same spot unless you work it out with pressure, even then you wont be 100%!
Bowl work is the most important part as the std ports are pretty big.
